On Wednesday, December 3, SKKU signed a student exchange agreement with the University of Montreal in Canada. The agreement was concluded during an official visit to SKKU by the University of Montreal’s delegation. Under the agreement, the two universities agreed to implement student exchange programs beginning in the second semester of the 2026 academic year. In addition, beyond expanding student exchanges, the two institutions designated the strengthening of research collaboration as a key agenda item, using the University of Montreal’s visit as an opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions on mid- to long-term strategies for promoting academic cooperation.

In particular, the two universities selected artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and advanced materials (nano and quantum) as priority areas for cooperation and discussed the potential for joint research. They also agreed to gradually expand collaboration by focusing on exchanges among key researchers in each field. Accordingly, in May 2026, SKKU's delegation plans to pay a return visit to the University of Montreal to hold a research workshop and to progressively specify areas of cooperation through joint participation in large-scale research funding initiatives and graduate student research exchanges, including mutual dispatch and joint supervision.

The University of Montreal is a public comprehensive university located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is a research-intensive institution ranked 168th in the QS World University Rankings and 150th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
