International Affairs (Vice President: Min Hyo Cho) held the 2026 Sungkyunkwan University Malaysian Alumni Reunion with Malaysian alumni in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Saturday, May 9. Held for the second time following last year to build SKKU’s international alumni network, this year’s Global Alumni Reunion was a great success, with approximately 60 Malaysian alumni in attendance.

The event began with welcoming remarks by Vice President for International Affairs Min Hyo Cho, followed by an introduction to the university’s development, an introduction of the Malaysian Global Alumni Reunion Founding Committee and appointment of the inaugural president, a commemorative photo session, and dinner.

Most of SKKU’s Malaysian alumni are former scholarship students supported by the Malaysian government, and after graduation they have contributed to national development in various sectors of Malaysian society. In fact, SKKU’s Malaysian alumni are active as global talents, working at leading multinational companies such as Petronas, Accenture, Motorola, May Bank, and Oracle, as well as Korean companies including Samsung, SK, and Dongwha.

In addition, Professor Mohd Nizam Husen, who was appointed as an SKKU Global Ambassador at last year’s event, was appointed as the inaugural president of the alumni association.

Professor Nizam said, “Following my appointment as a global ambassador of my alma mater, I am honored to be appointed as the inaugural president of the Malaysian Global Alumni Association. I will strive to help SKKU’s Malaysian alumni, who are actively engaged in various sectors of society, build a stronger network.”
