The Knowledge Center for Innovative Higher Education

Operates Overseas Convergence Project on

“AI-Driven E-Commerce Innovation and the Future of Data-Driven Business”

The Knowledge Center for Innovative Higher Education (Director: Professor Se-Young Lee) conducted an overseas convergence project in Singapore from February 22 to 28 under the theme “AI-Driven E-Commerce Innovation and the Future of Data-Driven Business.” The program was designed to help students understand the latest trends in AI and data-driven business and gain firsthand experience in the global industry.

A total of 16 students from 13 departments were finally selected for the program through a rigorous selection process. Prior to departure, participants prepared for the project through pre-training sessions covering topics such as understanding AI and the e-commerce industry, implementing e-commerce services based on no-code and vibe coding, and trends in Singapore’s startup ecosystem and AI commerce.

On-site, a three-day intensive training program was conducted at ACE.SG (Action Community for Entrepreneurship), a leading industry association representing Singapore’s startup ecosystem. Students received one-on-one mentoring from local entrepreneurs and experts based on AI-driven e-commerce projects they had prepared in Korea, and further developed their projects through pitch deck writing and presentation training. They then presented their team projects before startup officials and entrepreneurship experts, gaining firsthand experience in the global startup environment.

In addition, participants visited the NTUitive innovation hub to learn about a university-based innovation ecosystem where research outcomes are translated into technology transfer and startups. They also visited global tech companies in the Asia-Pacific region, including AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Grab, where they explored real-world cases of AI- and data-driven e-commerce and platform industries. Through these experiences, students gained insights into practical business strategies such as AI-based recommendations, demand forecasting, and operational optimization, as well as innovation cases from global companies.

After returning to Korea, participating students presented the outcomes of their team projects. The project proposals included AI- and data-driven business ideas such as “easy Fast,” a market forecasting platform for small café operators; “READY? READ-Y!,” a global education platform to improve children’s literacy; “OWN STEP,” a financial execution platform to support asset building among young adults; and “Pawcation,” an integrated travel service platform for pet owners. Based on the ideas developed through this overseas convergence project, students plan to further advance their service models and continue follow-up activities, including prototype development and exploration of commercialization potential.

Professor Se-Young Lee, Director of the Knowledge Center for Innovative Higher Education, stated, “This overseas convergence project provided a meaningful opportunity for students to directly experience global trends in AI and data-driven business and explore innovative business models,” adding, “We will continue to expand various programs to help students grow into talents equipped with a global perspective and interdisciplinary thinking.”
