2025 Summer Commencement Ceremony Held
- Held at New Millennium Hall, Humanities and Social Sciences Campus… 3,072 Graduates Produced-
Sungkyunkwan University held its 2025 Summer Commencement Ceremony on Monday, August 25, at 11 a.m. in New Millennium Hall of the 600th Anniversary Memorial Hall on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.
This year’s ceremony was held under the slogan, "Since ancient times, the nation’s talents have gathered at Sungkyunkwan, so your presence here is no coincidence." The event celebrated the graduates’ first steps as future leaders of the nation, equipped with the fundamental values of humanity, righteousness, propriety, and wisdom (仁義禮智), and honored their meaningful connection to Sungkyunkwan University.
A total of 3,072 degrees were awarded, including 1,497 bachelor’s, 1,274 master’s, and 301 doctoral degrees. Prior to the main ceremony, the university president and other academic officers performed a shortened version of the Ko-yu-rae (告由禮) to formally announce the graduation of all 3,072 students.
※‘Ko-yu-rae’ refers to the unique ritual of visiting Confucius’ shrine and announcing it when there are major events such as admission, graduation, and construction of a school building. (This year, due to renovations at Dae Seongjeon, it was held at Bicheondang.)
The ceremony was attended by Kim Do-yeon, Chairman of Ulsan Institute of Technology, who has also served as Minister of Education, Science and Technology, President of Ulsan National University, and President of POSTECH. He offered warm congratulations and shared insights on life and personal philosophy with the graduates. In addition, a commemorative graduation video showcasing memories from university life and congratulatory messages from various members of the university community was screened. The ceremony concluded with a celebration where graduates shared their aspirations, creating a heartfelt moment of collective celebration.
