SKKU Kumdo Team Wins First Place in National Collegiate Team Championship

The Kumdo Team of Sungkyunkwan University’s Athletic Club (Director: Prof. Kyung-Ro Jang, Coach: Sung-Dae Jung) claimed the championship title in the collegiate team category at the 54th National Student Kendo Tournament, held in commemoration of Korea’s Liberation Day (August 15) and hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This marks the team’s first victory at this tournament in six years, since the 48th competition in 2019, and their return to the top after 1 year and 9 months, following their 2023 win at the Korea Kumdo Association President’s Cup. The achievement reaffirms SKKU’s status as a powerhouse in collegiate Kumdo.
The team was composed of eight students from the Department of Sports Science: seniors Yong-Ha Kim and Dong-Hyun Jung, juniors Tae-Hoon Cho and Jun-Seo Park, sophomores Hyun-Seok Yoo and Eun-Sang Cho, and freshmen Sang-Yoon Kim and Seo-Jun Park. With outstanding skill and teamwork, they delivered dominant performances against 15 competing universities.
