Professor Sungmin Yoon of the Department of Social Welfare Publishes New Book with Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom

- The First Scholarly Volume to Systematically Compile Social Work Practice, Research, Policy, and Education for Korean American

Professor Sungmin Yoon of the Department of Social Welfare has published a new edited volume, 'Social Work Practice, Research, Empowerment and Education for Koreans in the United States', through the renowned Bloomsbury Publishing in the United Kingdom on November 27.

This volume, led by Professor Yoon, is the first scholarly work to comprehensively examine social work practice, research, policy, and education for Korean Americans in the United States. It brings together the expertise of numerous Korean American scholars, including Professor Sookhee Kim of Northern Kentucky University, Professor Mingun Lee of Ohio State University, and Professor Juye Ji of California State University.

This work is particularly significant as it is the first book in the history of Korean immigration to systematically organize the field of social welfare for Korean Americans. It is expected to serve not only as a useful textbook for social welfare programs in Korea but also as a valuable reference for international scholars and practitioners conducting research or providing social services for Korean communities in the United States.

Previously, Professor Yoon published 'Understanding Korean Americans’ Mental Health' with Lexington Books in the United States, marking the first academic work to address the mental health of Korean immigrants and continuing his pioneering research in the field.

The newly published volume is available for purchase in print and eBook formats at domestic bookstores or through Amazon (link: ).
