Clarivate has announced the results of its 2025 Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) list, recognizing scholars whose publications rank in the top 1% by citations in their respective fields. Six faculty members from our university have been selected for this year’s HCR list.

HCR refers to researchers who have published Highly Cited Papers (HCPs)—papers that rank in the top 1% by citations within a specific field. It is considered one of the key global indicators for evaluating research quality and impact. This year, a total of 6,868 researchers from over 60 countries and regions and more than 1,340 institutions were selected. In Korea, the numbers are as follows: Seoul National University (16), △UNIST (9), △Sungkyunkwan University (6), △Hanyang University (6), △Yonsei University (3), and △Korea University (2).

The SKKU researchers selected as 2025 HCRs are:

△ Nam-Gyu Park, Distinguished Endowed Chair Professor (Materials Science)

△ Dong-In Kim, Distinguished Professor (Computer Science)

△ Myung-Ju Ahn, HCR Endowed Chair Professor (Clinical Medicine)

△ Se-Hoon Park, Professor (Clinical Medicine)

△ Hyun-Seok Shin, Professor (Cross-Field)

△ Dae-Sik Kim, Professor (Biology & Biochemistry)

Notably, Professor Nam-Gyu Park, Korea’s first lifetime Distinguished Endowed Chair Professor, has been listed for nine consecutive years. Professor Myung-Ju Ahn from the School of Medicine has been selected for seven consecutive years. Professor Hyun-Seok Shin, who previously led the Research Center for van der Waals Quantum Solids, and Professor Dae-Sik Kim from the School of Medicine have each been selected for the second consecutive year. Professor Dong-In Kim of the College of Information and Communication Engineering has been selected for the third time. With Professor Se-Hoon Park newly joining this year’s list, SKKU continues to demonstrate and expand its global research competitiveness.

President Ji-Beom Yoo stated, “This achievement reflects the qualitative research outcomes and strengthened global impact we have pursued as a research-centered university. Moving forward, we will continue to advance innovative and creative interdisciplinary research, produce influential research achievements, and further strengthen our standing as a research-driven institution contributing to global challenges.”
