Institute for Digital Education Innovation Releases

'Between a Question Mark and an Exclamation Point' on U.S.-China Relations through ExCampus Talk Contents

- A convergence talk on U.S.-China relations and Korea's strategic response.
- Available now on the university's YouTube channel and SKKU Online.

The Institute for Digital Education Innovation (Dean, Professor Bae Sang-hoon) announced the successful completion of filming for 'Between a Question Mark and an Exclamation Point: U.S.-China Relations,' following the Humanities and Social Sciences episode released in March.

'Between a Question Mark and an Exclamation Point' is a talk series that explores and answers common curiosities from daily life. This third installment, focusing on U.S.-China relations, will feature professors from SKKU who will provide a fascinating look into the direction Korea should take amidst the rapidly changing international order, centered on the competition between the United States and China.

A key differentiator of this season is the participation of professors from a wide range of fields, including social sciences and engineering. This interdisciplinary approach seeks to explore the intersection of academia and real-world issues, offering viewers deep insights. The season's title, "Intersection," is a double entendre, representing both the cross-disciplinary nature of the academic content and the current geopolitical moment where the collision of two great powers—the U.S. and China—creates a crossroads of various issues. The target audience for this season is upper-level undergraduate and graduate students, aiming to provide them with an opportunity for a comprehensive understanding of world politics and the international order.

Professor Lee Hee-ok from the Department of Political Science and International Relations will host the series, joined by Professor Cha Tae-seo (Political Science and International Relations), Professor Kim Young-han (Economics), and Professor Kwon Seok-jun (Chemical Engineering). Together, they will reflect on the current international order from multiple perspectives and explore the strategic choices available to South Korean society. The discussions will incorporate real-world contexts and case studies to provide a closer look at the complex landscape and key issues of the international order.

Episode 1 will examine the historical background of modern U.S.-China relations. Episodes 2 and 3 will analyze key issues in U.S.-China relations from political/economic and scientific/technological/industrial perspectives, respectively. Episode 4 will use this analysis to explore Korea's strategic responses.

The 'Between a Question Mark and an Exclamation Point: U.S.-China Relations' series, a moment where everyday questions become profound insights, will be available starting Monday, September 15th, on the official Sungkyunkwan University YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@SKKU1398) and the open-learning platform SKKU Online (online.skku.edu).

The Institute for Digital Education Innovation stated that it plans to continue producing and developing high-quality content.
