SKKU Library Selected as ‘Top Institution’ in Academic Information Sharing and Distribution Evaluation

-Recognized for outstanding academic resource sharing capabilities among university libraries nationwide

-Leading the academic information sharing system with a collection of 2.3 million volumes

Sungkyunkwan University Library (Director: Prof. Hyunggi Choi) has been honored as a “Top Institution” in the 2025 University Library Academic Information Sharing and Distribution Contribution Evaluation, hosted by the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) under the Ministry of Education. The library achieved the nation’s highest recognition in the category of academic resource sharing systems.

KERIS collaborates with university libraries across the country to promote academic information sharing and distribution through the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), implementing various initiatives to strengthen accessibility. Each year, it selects and awards outstanding university libraries that contribute significantly to this ecosystem. The 2025 evaluation was conducted across three categories: union catalog development, interlibrary loan services, and activation of full-text distribution.

Based on its extensive collection of approximately 2.3 million volumes, SKKU Library not only provides its members with access to a wide range of scholarly materials but also plays a pivotal role in advancing the national academic information ecosystem through active collaboration and resource sharing with other universities and institutions. This year, its comprehensive information management and distribution performance were highly praised, leading to its selection as a Top Institution.

The award ceremony was held on Wednesday, August 27, at Yonsei University’s Baekyangnuri Hall, where SKKU Library received the KERIS President’s Award in the category of “Overall Evaluation – Top Institution.” This recognition reflects the library’s continuous efforts to secure high-quality content and build efficient sharing systems.

Professor Hyunggi Choi, Director of the SKKU Library, remarked, “This award is the result of the dedication and collaboration of all our library staff. Moving forward, we will continue to enhance openness and accessibility in academic information, fulfilling our role as a key institution supporting education and research.”
