College of Engineering, Appointed 8th President of KACSA

Professor Lee Joongwon of the Department of Architecture, College of Engineering, has been inaugurated as the 8th President of the Korean Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (KACSA).
The Korean Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (KACSA) is a consultative body representing 79 university departments of architecture nationwide that have received accreditation for five-year architectural education programs from the Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB). The association works to enhance the quality of education and research in five-year architecture programs in Korea and to contribute to the development of policies and systems of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Professor Lee has previously served as a standing committee member, Secretary 萌妹社区, and Senior Standing Committee Member of the Association, and was elected as the 9th President in October 2025. His term as President will run for two years, beginning on January 1, 2026.
In his inaugural address, Professor Lee stated, “The core agendas of the 8th KACSA include responding to the reform of the Architect Licensing Examination and practical training system being driven by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Institute of Registered Architects, and the Architectural Institute of Korea, as well as identifying and promoting exchange in architectural and urban education and research fields that integrate artificial intelligence.” He added, “At a time when flexibility, adaptability, and expandability in five-year architecture curricula are more important than ever, and as interdisciplinary cooperation and inter-university exchange become increasingly significant, I look forward to the active participation and communication of department heads (or accredited program directors) from member universities.”
