SKKU provided academic and institutional support for the international robotics competitions “RoboRacer Ecuador” and “IRO Ecuador,” held on October 17–18 at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, contributing to global cooperation in robotics education. The events were organized under the leadership of Professor Hyung Pil Moon of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, with local coordination by Research Professor Nabih Pico, Ph.D., serving as an opportunity to expand knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of robotics between Korea and Ecuador.
“RoboRacer Ecuador” is an autonomous driving technology competition for university students, while “IRO Ecuador” serves as a regional qualifying round of the International Robot Olympiad for elementary, middle, and high school students. Both competitions contributed to practice-oriented education and the enhancement of creativity. The events received wide coverage from local media and broadcasters, marking a new turning point for robotics education in Ecuador.
SKKU plans to continue expanding global cooperation in education and research in the future.
