The 2025 Sungkyun Person of the Year Award Ceremony Held
- Grand Prize awarded to Professor Jae Hyoun Kim of the College of Education, the Natural Sciences Campus New Construction TFT, and the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus Student Club Council

On Friday, December 19, the 2025 Sungkyun Person of the Year Award Ceremony was held at the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus of Sungkyunkwan University in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Established in 1997, the “Sungkyun Person of the Year Award” is the most prestigious award of Sungkyunkwan University. Based on the founding philosophy of Sugichiin (修己治人), it honors faculty members, staff, and students who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the University in their respective fields by practicing the teachings of benevolence, righteousness, propriety, and wisdom. The award also recognizes members of the SKKU family who have served as exemplary role models and enhanced the University’s reputation through their exceptional devotion and contributions to the University, the nation, and humanity, presenting them as representatives of all SKKU members.

This year, a total of ten individuals or teams were honored across three categories. The Grand Prize was awarded to Professor Jae Hyoun Kim of the College of Education. The Excellence Award was presented to Professor Sungjoo Lee of the Institute for Nano Science and Technology, while the Merit Awards were given to Professor Taewoo Nam of the College of Social Sciences and Professor Seung Woo An of the Confucian and Oriental Studies College.



In the administrative category, the Natural Sciences Campus New Construction TF Team received the Grand Prize, the Budget Planning Team received the Excellence Award, and the Sungkyun Institute for Convergence Administrative Office received the Merit Award. In the student category, the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus Student Club Council received the Grand Prize, the Freshman Guidance (FG) of the College of Liberal Arts received the Excellence Award, and student Jongbin Chae of the Department of Korean Language and Literature received the Merit Award.




In his congratulatory address at the ceremony, President Ji Beom Yoo stated, “I sincerely congratulate all the award recipients for greatly enhancing the honor and pride of the Sungkyunkwan community, and I extend my deepest gratitude for your dedication and hard work.” He added, “SKKU will also continue to make bold challenges for humanity and the future society, striving to become a globally respected institution.”
