Fencing Club Wins Men’s Sabre Individual and Team Events at the National University Fencing Championships

SKKU's Fencing Club (central club) won both the men’s sabre individual and team events at the 26th National University Fencing Championships held in Haenam from November 29 to 30.
In the individual game, Julen Casajus, a student from the Department of Computer Engineering, rose to the top among 38 competitors. Following the Cheongyang competition in May, Sungkyunkwan University secured its second consecutive individual title. Casajus advanced to the finals by defeating opponents from Pusan National University, the Korea Air Force Academy, Chung-Ang University, and Sogang University, demonstrating outstanding skill throughout the tournament.
In the team game, the Fencing Club also advanced to the finals after defeating Pusan National University and Yonsei University. In the final match against Chung-Ang University, the team was trailing 35–40 when club captain Jeong Won-i, competing as the anchor, scored ten consecutive points to achieve a dramatic 45–43 comeback victory. Jeong recorded 22 points in this match, leading the team to the championship. The team event featured Jeong Won-i, Julen Casajus, Lee Hyun-min, and Lee Jae-o.
By winning both the men’s sabre individual and team events, the university’s Fencing Club once again demonstrated its exceptional strength on the collegiate fencing stage.
