Mr. Nurgali Arystanov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Korea, the President of Q University, and the Vice President of Satbayev University, visited Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) and met with President Yoo Ji-beom to discuss cooperation in educational and academic exchange.

President Yoo Ji-beom, along with Director of the Office of International Affairs Cho Min-hyo, and Professor Lee Jae-chan (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering), who is conducting joint research with Satbayev University, attended the meeting.

Minister Sayasat Nurbek introduced Kazakhstan as a new hub for global university and industry cooperation due to its geopolitical position, population, and resources, expressing a strong desire to expand higher education and academic exchange with Korea. He also hoped to strengthen cooperation with SKKU in various fields, including education, research, and industry-academia collaboration.

In response, President Yoo Ji-beom stated his expectation that practical cooperation between the two countries would further expand and develop, building upon their long-standing friendly relations.

Currently, SKKU has agreements with four universities in Kazakhstan, including Satbayev University, and is actively engaged in joint research and student exchange. SKKU also signed an agreement with Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, a school for gifted students established by the Kazakhstani government to nurture talent in science, in May 2024 to continue exchanges aimed at attracting top-tier engineering and science students.
